Health and Social Care Bill Listening Event

Wednesday 18 May 2011 10am-12noon

LASS, The Michael Wood Centre, 53 Regent Road, Leicester LE1 6YF

One East Midlands would like to personally invite you to this consultation event to discuss the implications and the changes proposed in the Health and Social Care Bill, as part of the Government's listening exercise.

As you may be aware, the Government is taking advantage of a natural break in the passage of the Health and Social Care Bill to pause, listen to patients, clinicians and the public, reflect and improve its plans for modernisation of the National Health Service.

Through our membership of Regional Voices as a Department of Health strategic partner, One East Midlands has been asked by the Department of Health to host this event for you; our Health and Social Care Network members in the East Midlands. The event is held in conjunction with the NHS Future Forum to feed into this wider listening exercise and we will be joined on the day by Future Forum members.

Attendance to this event is by invitation only to network members, however, to ensure we can gather as many voices as possible from the sector, we request that all attendees liaise with their members and networks prior to the meeting to obtain views and feedback on the questions raised.

Event Overview

This event will give you an opportunity to discuss what impact the Health and Social Care Bill will have on the communities you work with, what changes you broadly support and any amendments to the bill that you would like to see. It will focus on the following four themes:

  • The role of choice and competition for improving quality
  • How to ensure public accountability and patient involvement in the new system
  • How new arrangements for education and training can support the modernisation process
  • How advice from across a range of healthcare professions can improve patient care.

We anticipate that demand for places on this event will be high so we reserve the right to restrict the number of delegates attending from any single organisation.

For further information about this event email office@one-em.org.uk or telephone 0115 934 8471.

One East Midlands and Regional Voices would like to thank LASS for providing the venue free of charge for this event.
